Szeged Aaaah! We leave you with regret ...
Considering the price of the bedroom to shit it was, it was dropped on my breakfast. It took four days to eat.
Szeged is 15 km from Serbia, then we forget everything and start again on something else. Here we enter a country that knows very little and has fairly bad reputation, it's the least we can say. Even during our trip, people who spoke of Serbia discussed in the evil zealous police, corruption, racism, not very encouraging before you go. The episode
crossing the border should be detailed. Indeed, our Hungarian friends have built a brand new highway to rally neighboring Serbia. But we cyclists small, can not travel on highways. It is forbidden and very dangerous. So we continued on the old road. After the customs office was closed: roasting, barbed wire, signs "No Entry" visible goods, 2 hulains beings normally would have made half round ... not us!
We pass through a portion of fence that was pierced and it goes to the Hungarian border post at Hwy. Here, we explain that veut entrer en Serbie : imbroglio !!
Serbian Big Bad! We arrive before the official passport, stamp, thank you, hello! That good start ...
Rather than give you a chronological summary, I'll give you some overall impressions. Serbia is a beautiful country. The roads are good, nice, well marked and traverse beautiful villages where the inhabitants, very curious, did not stop to greet us. We can judge the atmosphere of a country in the first contact. It was called Jovan, selling a small grocery just across the border. Speaking excellent English, asking lots of questions about our trip, we left his number in case you encounter an episode with premises. That's what I call hospitality!
In Serbia, these are the people we have attracted. As the extraordinary Doucha: you drive in a small town, Tom is approached by a guy in a utility, he lives and works in France, in the Sentier, and invites us to a drink. He is 11, he still has work, he said we're going to Vrsac, the great city of the corner for lunch. It gives us appointment there in a typical restaurant. It is in the meeting, order fast, talks fast, laughs a lot, lots of jokes, talking business, he has no time, he has to leave, he takes notes, tells us review and he soon disappears: it was the tornado Doucha! After
Vrsac, it goes to Bela Crkva, a cute little pond where it was decided to pitch our tent before moving to Romania. The campsite reception is closed,
keeper speaks nothing but the Serb: practice. A guy comes to our rescue: Milos is the other pleasant surprise of our stay there. He speaks English and quickly adjusted our installation problem. Later, we find ourselves with friends to drink a few beers and talk about lots of subjects. They all speak English, the discussion revolves around travel, people, politics, foosball, Serbia, on our journey ... They have a great interest in Europe and that Serbia out of its isolation.
This blog is not a political forum, but with Tom, we will still give a little advice on the matter. From what we saw, Serbia deserves at least as much or more, to join the European Union that some countries that are already here and we've been through, as Hungary, Slovakia, Bulgaria and especially Romania.
This country will be the subject of the next section, if you plan to go soon, read it before, it can serve ...
